Silkscreen Printing Singapore — Everything You Need to Know

Silkscreen printing is Singapore's most popular method for custom t-shirts — and it's been that way for decades. If you're ordering corporate uniforms, CCA shirts, event tees, or sports jerseys in bulk, silkscreen is almost certainly the right choice.
What Is Silkscreen Printing?
Silkscreen printing (also called screen printing) uses a fine mesh screen to press thick, vibrant ink directly onto fabric. A separate screen is created for each colour in your design, and each colour is applied one at a time in layers.
The result is a bold, opaque print with excellent colour saturation. Because the ink sits on top of the fabric, silkscreen colours are bright even on dark garments, and the print holds its shape wash after wash.
Why Silkscreen Is Best for Bulk Orders
The cost structure of silkscreen printing favours volume. Each colour requires a screen to be made — that setup cost is fixed regardless of how many pieces you print. Spread across 30 pieces, that setup cost is noticeable. Spread across 200 pieces, it becomes negligible.
Reference price: From S$8/pc for a 1-colour silkscreen print on a cotton t-shirt at 30 pieces, 1 position.
When to Choose Silkscreen
Silkscreen is the right call when:
You're ordering 30 or more pieces
Your design uses 1–4 solid colours (no gradients or photographic elements)
You want the most cost-effective option for bulk orders
You're printing on cotton or dri-fit fabric
You need a durable, long-lasting print
Silkscreen may not be the best fit when:
Your design has gradients, fine details, or photographic colours
You're ordering fewer than 30 pieces (DTF is more economical at small quantities)
You need to print on very unusual fabric types
Colour Limits and Pantone Matching
Each colour in a silkscreen design requires its own screen. Most class tee and corporate orders use 1–3 colours, which is the sweet spot for cost and visual impact.
For clients who need exact brand colour matching, we work with Pantone codes. Provide your Pantone codes when you submit your artwork and we'll match to them during production.
What Fabrics Work with Silkscreen?
Cotton (100% cotton, cotton-poly blends)
Dri-fit (polyester-based performance fabric)
Canvas (for tote bags)
Non-woven bags
On dark fabrics, an underbase layer of white ink is printed first, which adds one colour to the count but makes all other colours pop correctly.
